Free furniture, FREE TVs, Free computers and FREE fish tanks and toys
Get free books to read… A Free alternative to Microsoft Office… Free Broadband…
Here’s how to be an INTERNET WOMBLE TODAY!
“You’ve got to tell your readers about the dump.” said one friend the other day.
She had just come back from the recycling section of her local Council tip with a great bike for £1. On a previous date she’d got a printer for £1 and she was raving about the great furniture they had up there.
What better on a bright sunny day than to drive up to the tip and come back with bargains!
Another reader wrote me a letter recently thanking me for introducing her to the freecycle website. Not only had she used it to get a bigger computer desk and clear out a bit of her own clutter, but she’d also made contact with a friend she’d lost touch with 14 years ago!
The Joy of Getting Things for FREE!
And the thing that really struck me most was how DELIGHTED people are about getting stuff for free - or nearly free. Far happier than most people seem to be when they’ve just bought something expensive from the shops.
Because many of us are, I think, Wombles at heart. We hate to see waste. Like to give things a home. And prefer the idea of saving money over spending it.
So, if you haven’t already discovered Freecycle, go pay it a visit now: http://www.freecycle.org.uk. A quick visit to the group in my area today brought showed hundreds of new offers including several comuputers, TVs, sofa beds, fish tanks, freezers, DVD players, furniture, pianos, parquet flooring and more!
And don’t forget the local tip, or these other great sources of freebies I’ve found
* Instead of paying for books second hand, there’s a great site where you can swap your books with other readers: http://www.readitswapit.co.uk
* Alternatively, for a source of FREE ONLINE BOOKS, try the Gutenberg project at http://www.gutenberg.org for all kinds of wonderful free books, http://www.classic-literature.co.uk. for free literature, and myfreebooks.biz for opportunity-type products.
* For free information on your health, I like this site for straightforward info http://www.freehealthfacts.com
* As a free alternative to Microsoft Word and Office, I’ve been delighted with the Open Office software I dowloaded for free copy several months ago. It’s easy to download and will save you several hundred quid: http://www.openoffice.org
* For free broadband access, pop along to your local McDonalds - most of which are now providing free Wi-Fi connection for all its customers. Alternatively, check out this website to find other free Wi-Fi spots in your area: http://www.hotspot-locations.com
* Don’t spend money on expensive video games - play online for free at http://www.gamegarage.co.uk
Any more ideas, please send them in!
